The Problem

DG Interior Studio is a Mumbai-based interior design practice catering to premium and luxury homeowners, mostly high-rise apartments and large flats. The founder, Dhvnil Gada, wanted the brand to look as refined as the spaces he designed. His brief was simple: build a brand that feels clean, minimal, and rich, mirroring his approach to interiors. The challenge was to achieve this balance without over-designing, while also ensuring the identity could work across multiple real-world touchpoints like signage, presentation decks, and client communication.

I began by exploring a wide range of logo directions; from decorative monograms to minimal geometric forms. The final concept that clicked was an elegant mark where the letters D and G interlocked to form an infinity-like shape, symbolizing balance and continuity.

Once the design was approved, I validated it for trademark availability, only to find that the initial version resembled an existing mark. Rather than start over, I refined the curves and geometry using a custom grid system, creating a distinctive form that retained the original essence while becoming structurally unique.

To build the identity system, I used Roboto Flex — a variable font that allowed for precise weight control across different uses. Since variable fonts aren’t yet supported on everyday tools like Canva or Google Slides, I defined Red Rose as a secondary fallback font to maintain consistency in digital templates.

Creating a Custom Illustration Style
To make the brand feel more ownable, I also created a set of custom illustrations for DG Interior Studio using a custom 16x16 grid. These were designed to match the theme setting that is familiar to the mindset of the customer of DG Interior Studio, while giving the studio a visual language beyond just logo, type, and colours.

The illustrations helped add personality to an otherwise sleek identity and gave the brand flexible block-based custom system adaptable for social media, presentations, website sections, and client-facing communication.

Building a Consistent System Across Touchpoints
I developed a unified design grid that became the foundation for all brand assets — signage, business cards, stationery, presentation decks, and social media templates. This ensured structural consistency even if assets were created later by different vendors.

Designing for Functionality and Subtle Marketing
A unique intervention was the door signage system. For homes under construction, I designed the project signage to serve both as an identifier and a subtle brand presence. It replaced the usual unmarked flat numbers, helping delivery staff and visitors navigate while quietly advertising the designer’s presence in that project.

Creating Templates That Work at Scale
To simplify execution, I built native templates on Google Slides and Canva, integrating the brand’s fonts, colors, and textures. This helped the team create new communication materials without compromising visual quality.

Bringing It Online
I also themed a Framer website for DG Interior Studio, aligning it with the brand identity. Colors, type, and even animations were customized to keep the same minimal, sleek tone across digital and physical touchpoints.

The refined DG monogram gave the studio a recognizable yet understated mark that felt both personal and professional. The grid-based design system made it easy to scale the brand without creative drift.

The new identity helped DG Interior Studio present itself as a modern luxury practice — not just a small design office, but a brand with structure, elegance, and confidence.
